More Racecar Prep

by Sasha (SG) on 06-06-2010 at 05:10 PM
The first race that I'll actually be driving in goes down this weekend. The cars still need a lot of work, but I'll need my rest too as it's been a while since I've been in the heat of a touring car race where guys have no second thoughts about trading paint and getting dirty. Lately it's been all about preparation and steady pace that comes from endurance racing, and while the prep is still required here, the 30 minute races require a little bit more aggression if you want to win. Maybe I should

Race 1 - Canadian Touring Car

by Sasha (SG) on 05-25-2010 at 09:15 AM
Over the last few weeks I've teamed up with G1 Racing, which is a semi factory backed team running Hyundai Genesis Coupe's in the Castrol Canadian Touring Car championship. I was approached as their Technical Director had to leave and I was asked to fill the spot. My pay? I get to drive one of the three cars. Since I love nothing more than developing race cars and then driving them, the opportunity was too good to pass up. That being said, it came at the worst possible time. We were so busy at the

Engine Drama And Shop Updates

by Sasha (SG) on 05-03-2010 at 07:58 PM
It's been a busy time at SG lately, and as spring has arrived you'd think it's time for Kels to get out ripping. You'd think.

But instead the new fresh engine is showing signs of issue, and they are of the strangest type. You'd think there would be some rod knock if a bearing was sized wrong and it let go, or some oil consumption if the hone wasn't good or the rings weren't installed right. Maybe the engine would let go if a rod bolt was over or under torqued and put a hole in the

SG-Motorsport Shop Updates!

by Sasha (SG) on 04-23-2010 at 08:40 AM
Hello Gents,

So while most of our blog posts have been about the racecar, which is really the most interesting thing we do IMO, we have some other cool stuff going on at the shop. I like Mike's blogging about all his customer projects and what they are making, so I thought I would follow suit. The difference is I haven't been taking pictures

We've got Dave's Twin Turbo 350z at the shop for an oil cooler that we just finished with a Mocal thermostatic sandwich plate

More Racecar Updates

by Sasha (SG) on 04-07-2010 at 09:44 AM
The tuning never stops, and as we're quite busy with the spring fever kicking in, finding time to work on the racecar is difficult. However, When I started my shop I vowed to never put my car on the backburner for customers (ya'll go fuck ya selves), instead late nights and weekends are where the racecar building fits in.
